Troubleshooting Video Uploads
Fixes for a video upload that fails, stalls, or is rejected by the composer.
Last updated 19 October 2026
If a video will not upload, work through this list in order — it fixes the large majority of cases.
1. The file is too big
A video attached to a post can be up to 25 MB. If the composer says the file is too large:
- Trim the video to the part that matters (any gallery app can).
- Re-record in 720p instead of 4K or 1080p60 for long clips.
- Compress it with a compressor app.
2. The format is not supported
MP4 and MOV with H.264 or HEVC are supported. A file that plays on your phone but is refused was probably recorded by an unusual app. Re-export it from your gallery app ("save" or "share as video") and try again. Full details: Supported video formats and limits.
3. The connection dropped
Uploads need a stable connection the whole way through. On flaky mobile data:
- Switch to Wi-Fi.
- Keep the app in the foreground until the progress bar completes — backgrounding can pause the upload.
- Retry after the failure; partial uploads do not count against you.
4. The app is out of date
Update Xacheus from the Play Store. Old versions had upload bugs that current versions do not.
5. Something else
If the upload still fails:
- Note the exact error message (screenshot it).
- Try a short, small video (a few seconds) — if that works, the issue is the file.
- Report a technical problem with the screenshot, the file size and what format it is.
